About the Award

This new award is supported by The Sir Peter O’Sullevan Charitable Trust which was established to provide funds for the welfare of animals, particularly horses. It was founded in tribute to the late Sir Peter O’Sullevan CBE.  www.thevoiceofracing.com This award recognises any individual, former racehorse partnership or an organisation* that has made a significant impact on people’s lives with a former racehorse.  Nominees are selfless, passionate people, who go above and beyond their everyday roles or jobs to make a positive difference to the lives of people or former racehorses, or to the communities within which they operate. * All nominees must be registered with RoR to qualify.   No-one currently, or formerly, employed by RoR is eligible for this Award.

Qualities may include:

  • Anyone who volunteers or fundraises for the benefit of people or former racehorses, or in support of local communities.

  • Actively out in the community making an impact, such as a volunteer or an equine ambassador.

  • Actively raising awareness of aftercare and the welfare of the former racehorse population. 

  • Assisting in equine assisted therapy programmes. 

  • Helping in the process of teaching people to ride or gain confidence around horses/animals. 

  • Helping those less fortunate in life. 

  • Dedication and passion for welfare and aftercare.

  • Selfless, charitable, and passionate.

  • A champion of the values of RoR, who has made a positive difference to the lives of individuals, groups or local/diverse communities.

  • Leads by example in their conduct and demonstration of positive values and behaviour.
